This history of the Carmel Valley Fire Protection District was first researched in 2014 and then published in 2015.
Today’s generations of Valleyites are mostly unaware of this history – one that is slowly but surely succumbing to the grip of the past. Many of those who first founded the Fire Company were WWII and Korean War vets who, along with many Valley volunteers, also played important roles in making Carmel Valley what it is today.
New facts and data and images have been discovered since this history was first published. Additionally, online news media availability is now a useful tool to help open the windows to our past. This 2023 update contains 130 rare photographs along with 80 pages of text to delight those having a keen interest in Carmel Valley’s history.
