Carmel Valley’s Jamesburg Earth Station played a key role in Intelsat’s world-wide communications global network from the 1960s to the 1990s. Among its historic transmissions are Apollo 11’s famous “first step” TV video on the moon, President Nixon’s historic visit to the Peoples Republic of China, coverage of the Vietnam War, Elvis Presley’s famous “Aloha” concert in Hawaii, and many more. This updated version is now available on our website and at the History Center Museum.
