A reception for our latest exhibit, JOAN BAEZ: CARMEL VALLEY AND BEYOND, was held on Friday, August 28, 2015, 3pm to 6 pm. Attendees walked into the History Center with soft Joan Baez music playing in the background and enjoyed viewing the exhibit and sipping wine with cheese and munchies. ??The exhibit commemorates the 50th Anniversary of Joan Baez’ Institute for the Study of Nonviolence in Carmel Valley in 1965. Many learned about Baez’ activism, folk music, and her work with other activists such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez. A special treat for everybody was to have Bob Fitch present at the event and to talk about his experiences while photographing the turbulent ’60s right along with these activists. The exhibit will run at least until the end of the year.
